If we believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God then we must not be led astray by false prophets of doom.
If you do not believe the Word of God as written in the Bible, why on earth would you be fooled by tricksters who profess and proclaim doom and gloom end of the world scenarios – you could care less – right?
And yet right now I can name two current scenarios happening. We have Alan John Miller and Mary Suzanne Luck proclaiming themselves to be Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene and have set up base in Queensland and are drawing in disciples from across the country.
On the other side of the world we find 89-year-old Harold Camping waxing with utter certainty about the end of the world. “May 21, 2011 is the day of judgment,” he says with conviction.
Jesus Christ was questioned about when the end of the world would take place. His closest followers and friend really wanted to know. They wanted to ensure they would be ready, would not be found sleeping and miss the event.
Jesus answered them sternly: He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. LUKE 21:8
It does not come much plainer that that!
Luke 17:23 Men will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them.
Luke 21:7 “Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
“Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come. Matthew 24:4-8
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Word made flesh. I believe He came to redeem us. I believe he speaks the absolute unquestionable truth.
I abjure you not to mislead by false Messiah’s or ill informed sects. Trust in the Word of God – Jesus Christ. All others are deceivers, pretenders and misguided individuals.
The end days are filled with terrible events. Among the things which characterize the perilous days at the end of this age (2 Tim. 3:1-5) is general deception from evil people:
Evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Tim 3:13)
The first thing Jesus mentioned when He answered the disciples’ questions about the sign of His coming and the end of the age was to watch out for religious deception:
Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. (Mat 24:4, 5)
The Lord also mentioned the success that false prophets will have in their religious deception. This should cause all Christians to stay on their spiritual guard, for many will be deceived:
Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. (Mat 24:11)
Miracle-Performing False Prophets and False Christs
The Lord went on to give specifics about how the false Christs and false prophets will deceive people:
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. (Mat 24:24)
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible. (Mark 13:22)
